Christian Movie Reviews - Saving God - One Soul at a Time

"Saving God: One Soul At a Time" is a Christian film that comes straight from the hood, and so differs from what we're used to seeing. It's a Cloud Ten Pictures film that does an excellent job of portraying the life of an ex-con turned pastor in a world where God was the odd man out and survival was everything.

Armstrong Cane is on a mission to convert as many people as possible to Christianity, even if he needs to use force to do so. He walks a fine line between his old and new selves (with a few lapses) while attempting to mentor a young man named Norris and keep him from making heinous errors.

Every time Cane turned around, he seemed to be reminded of his horrific history - but he was determined to complete the task, even if it meant risking his life and violating his parole.

When tragedy struck a second time, he recognized that perhaps God's plan was not that simple, and all he had to do was submit and wait. When it did, he was in the right place at the right time, ready to give us a bittersweet finish to a life-through-death storey.

This film is recommended for individuals who aren't troubled by some "honest talk" in a Christian film. The filmmakers tried not to over-stylize everything, which is why the film has a "not preaching to the choir" air to it. The discourse is convincing, and the conflicts are genuine.
